I don’t think you need a psychic reading to answer that question. But, my intuition tells me that yes it is okay for you to reach out and ask how they are doing. I think they would appreciate it. It’s always hard to lose a job and I think getting support from someone else is a good thing. I hope this helps.

Having been in that predicament where I did loose my job i can say i was very appreciative of the people who cared enough and took the time to contact me to see if i was ok. It also showed me the people who didn’t care for my welfare and didn’t make an effort to contact me. So I would say that the person would appreciate you making the effort.
