The Founding Orishas The Orishas are the intermediaries between God and Human beings. They´re associated with elements in the Natural World People refer to the Orishas as Santos (Saints), hence the name Santeria for the religion. The Orishas are semi-divine beings with human traits. The Founding Orishas are the spiritual deities that are given to a person going through Kari Osha (Crowning ceremony), no matter what head angel is being crowned you must receive them too and that is why they are called the Founding Orishas. Their order in hierarchy is as follows, Obatala, Oshun, Yemaya and Shango these deities where once on earth and they were crowned before leaving to the spiritual plane.
